The Wild Flowers of Early February on Pilot Knob
9 02 2009We saw Star Lilies in two different shades. The first, had green veins in the white petals.

The second, had white petals with yellow centers.

Western Hound’s Tongue with a bit of spider web.

Indian Warrior

Huckleberry – the flowers are waxy and beautiful.

Does anybody know what these are?

The Giant Madrone on Pilot Knob
9 02 2009This photo was probably taken in the late nineties. The tree still looks relatively healthy.

This is the same tree today, February 8, 2009. I didn’t even know that the tree had died.

To give a perspective on size, I had my grand daughter stand by the tree.

I found out today that Tom, the jovial ranger at the Sky Oaks Ranger Station, died last summer. It was a sad day up on Pilot Knob.
